I-9 verifications

Use form I-9 to verify the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment in the United States. Employers may designate an authorized representative to fill out the forms on their company behalf, including personnel officers, foremen, agents or a notary public. Copies are not accepted only original documents. An employer has a three business day of the date of hire to verify an employer. If an employee is unable to present the required document within the 3 day time frame, he or she must show a receipt that they have applied for the document. A notary public signing the form in the capacity of "Authorized Representative" of the verifying employer must not affix his or her notarial seal impression upon the document, however the notary public is recommended to sign the document as an authorized representative.
